This template provides Community Safety Partnerships and other multi-agency partnerships with a ready-to-use framework for establishing a formal Information Sharing Protocol. It sets out the key principles underpinning information sharing, the general purposes for which information may be shared, partner responsibilities and commitments, and arrangements for governance, monitoring and review. The template is designed to be adapted to the specific needs and context of a local partnership, and is intended to sit alongside individual data sharing agreements between named agencies rather than replace them. It takes account of the relevant legislative context including the Data Protection Act 1998, the Human Rights Act and Common Law Duty of Confidentiality. Partnerships are advised to review the template against current legislation and local protocols before use.
