Scottish Women’s Aid has delivered domestic abuse and VAWG competency training for nearly 50 years. Their training offer covers domestic abuse awareness, trauma-informed responses, DASH risk assessment, children’s safety and wellbeing, and the impact of coercive control — all informed by survivor-lived experience. Open to professionals across public, third sector and community settings.

Funded through the Scottish Government’s Delivering Equally Safe fund, Equally Safe at School supports secondary schools to take a whole-school approach to preventing gender-based violence. Resources and training are available for practitioners working in educational and community settings, aligned with the Equally Safe strategy. Part of a broader national movement to address the attitudes and inequalities that underpin VAWG.
- Violence Against Women & Girls Toolkit – College of Policing
This toolkit supports police officers and staff to protect women and girls from misogyny and bring criminals to justice. It contains:

- a list of misogynistic behaviours and the offences under which they could be prosecuted
- other tactics and protective tools that can be used to prevent further reoffending, such as civil orders
This practical tool was developed as part of the national framework for policing violence against women and girls.

Refreshed in 2023, Equally Safe is the Scottish Government and COSLA’s joint strategy on preventing and eradicating violence against women and girls. It sets out four priorities spanning prevention, early intervention, justice, and recovery. The strategy is underpinned by a Delivery Plan and a governance structure involving a Ministerial Group and Joint Strategic Board. Essential reading for anyone working in the VAWG space.
